The conflict between core values of the society and personal values cause aberration in our behavior. The people who are at the helm of affairs articulate and manipulate the systems. They are key personnel and the future of any nation lies in their hands.
When we are in the womb of mother, we perceive one world only. We cannot differentiate different forms. We face the mother first time after birth and disconnected from the mother’s umbilical cord. With the progress of life, we start identifying different forms and also identify ourselves as a separate entity. Our parents, teachers and priests imbibe in us moral and cultural values. As we grow, we cherish and experience the values of truthfulness, love and compassion.
After we complete the education we became part of the system. The system in which we are living is utterly corrupted. Indifference and exploitation are very common now a day in any system. The person who just entered into the system understands the whole complexity and stands at the cross roads. He does not know where to go? Now he has only two options. Whether to influence the system by following his nurtured values or influenced by the system.
We are influenced by the impressive possessions and social status. Our actions are motivated by these factors. Social status or riches are a means to serve the people and to express our love. Ones we forget this human value; we become part of this exploitative system and part of the exploitation. Corruption, embezzlement and scandals are symptoms of selfish attitude of the people.
Our core values which we are ingrained deeply, continuously haunt us. Now there is a fight between the core values and personal values in our mind.. Our body is filled with unhappy and undesirable chemicals of adrenaline, cortisol. They drain out our vitality and energy. We lead life with negative emotions of anxiety distress fear and frustration. Highly stressful life leads to disease and illness. It affects our performance and also our relationships. We will lose steadiness of mind, self control, and ultimately we remain as restless soul.
The key personnel of any system whose highest attributes i.e., determination, confidence, and a sense of contribution, are grossly under utilized. It is causing harm to the society. When the people who are at the helm of the affairs are in the state of conflict and inertia, what would be the fate of the society?
The attitude of indifference and exploitation are selfish in nature. They cause the emotions of anxiety and distress in the individual. All the ills of modern society are results of misalignment among core values, personal values and cultural values. The only solution to end this human suffering is by harmonization of personal and cultural values with our core values. The alignment of conflicting values can be brought in by embracing love and empathy towards our fellow people. The emotions fear, anxiety, distress brings frustration and disappointment. The emotions of love and empathy bring peace and happiness in our lives.
